Zachary W. Kleinhandler
Zac oversees construction and development for Heartwood. Zac is the Chief Operating Officer of KLM Equities, Inc. and co-heads its investment committee. KLM develops, manages and owns commercial and residential real estate located in New York, California, Washington State and Colorado. KLM has developed over one million square feet of real estate and owns and operates a portfolio of more than 55 properties, including approximately 1000 residential units in New York City. Notable tenants include Apple, Tesla, Adidas, Chinese Theatres LLC, Vince, Open Table, Hard Rock Café, and Citibank. Prior to KLM he was President of Meister Company, LLC, a startup Investment Holding Company and an Analyst at Force Capital Management, a $1.7 billion Long/Short Equity Hedge Fund. Zachary started his career as an Analyst at Goldman Sachs in the Financial Sponsors Group. He received his B.A. from Columbia University. Zachary is a homeowner in Accord, NY, a short distance from Heartwood.
Kristin Soong Rapoport
Kristin is project manager for the sponsor team. She has over 10 years of experience in finance and private equity. Most recently, Kristin served as Senior Vice President at Fortress Investment Group where she ran the oil and gas investment team and oversaw the development of large-scale infrastructure projects. Kristin previously spent eight years at Morgan Stanley in the institutional securities division. Kristin graduated cum laude from Columbia University.
Phillip Rapoport provides overall strategic direction for the project and led the acquisition and entitlement process. He is a product specialist at a $15bn asset management firm in New York City. Previously, Phillip was Head of Markets and a member of the management committee at Ripple, a San Francisco-based technology company backed by Google Ventures and Andreesen Horowitz. Earlier in his career, Phillip worked in institutional sales at Goldman Sachs and Bank of America after studying Economics and Philosophy at Columbia University. He was a homeowner in Gardiner, NY, (where Heartwood is located) from 2010-2016, and as an outdoorsman and climber, he has frequented Mohonk Preserve and Minnewaska State Park for more than 15 years.
Rich focuses on underwriting and financing for Heartwood. He is a Co-Founder of GSR, a digital-asset trading firm, where he leads the Markets group and sit on the Board of Directors. He was previously a managing director at Goldman Sachs where he spent 11 years between New York and London in commodities trading and was Global Head of Oil Derivatives Trading. He previously ran energy trading teams at two New York-based hedge funds. Rich earned a bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics from Columbia University.
